The 2020/21 UEFA Champions League has come and gone! An all-English final! Blue versus blue! Manchester versus London! 😂 okay, enough of the dramatization. Here we gooo ⚽

The Match

First-half 

It was an equally contested 45 minutes, with both teams having a sniff at each other's goal. Timo Werner spurned two good chances for Chelsea while Man. City's Raheem Sterling and Phil Foden were denied by the defence. Eventually, towards the end of the half, Kai Havertz broke the deadlock between the teams. A well-woven through-ball from Mason Mount found the German youngster who managed to put away his effort past Ederson.

The turning point

Second-half

Chelsea were in more of a 'protect mode' as Man. City searched for a reply to Chelsea's goal. Unfortunately for them, they lost key player Kevin De Bruyne to a head injury after he collided with Antonio Rudiger. The Cityzens kept pressing on while Chelsea soaked up the pressure. Chelsea did have a chance to kill off the game when Havertz played in a pass for Christian Pulisic. However, the American international, in his first-ever final, failed to find the net. Man. City pulled their last strings in stoppage time, but to nothing. The final whistle was blown, and one team was left standing.

What a season, what a climax! Thank you all for tagging along on the journey. This is my second complete Champions League season coverage, the first one to go smoothly 😂. Next season remains a mystery to all of us of, but one thing for certain, it won't dissappoint.

I hope to be back for 2021/22, but anything can happen. As for now, I leave it here. Until we meet again.
